About Us

"I am the Good Shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know me—just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father—and I lay down My life for the sheep.”

- Jesus Christ, John 10:14-15

We invite you to take a moment to read about our family’s journey. God has guided our path along this winding road, and we continue to walk with Him daily.

Matt Chadwick and Kelsey Watson first met at ages nine and eleven through youth livestock programs—Kelsey’s family raised sheep and Matt’s raised goats. What began as childhood friendship grew into a high-school romance and eventually a marriage built on shared values and a love for agriculture.

In 2014, as newly married college students, Matt and Kelsey set out to reimagine Kelsey’s family farm. What started as a small sheep operation has since grown into more than 100 Polypay ewes, a thriving value-added meat and wool business, and a home filled with two daughters, Dava and Daphne.

In the summer of 2025, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss when Kelsey passed away suddenly due to an unforeseen medical emergency. Life often redirects us when we least expect it, and in those moments we must lean into the Lord’s guidance. While we found comfort knowing Kelsey was home with our Savior, those of us left behind were unsure how to move forward.

After much prayer, reflection, and counsel, Matt felt confident that God intended for the farm—and the mission Kelsey helped build—to continue. With the help of family, friends, the wisdom of the Lord, and the patience of our loyal customers, we eventually returned to the farmers’ market.

As with all stories written by God, ours is ongoing. Our family has spent this fall healing, growing, and leaning on the outpouring of love from our relatives, friends, customers, and the farming community. God has faithfully comforted us at every step.

Our entire family plays an active role in producing our homegrown and handmade products. Lambs are born and raised on our farm and processed throughout the year to provide fresh, local lamb to western Kentucky. Matt, an excellent cook, is often asked for lamb-cooking tips, which inspired him to begin creating his own spice blends—a product that has quickly become a customer favorite.

Each spring, the sheep are sheared, and the whole family works together to skirt, wash, pick, card, dye, spin, and create yarn, jewelry, accessories, and home goods—by hand—right in our home studio… and, at times, in the garage and kitchen too. Some fleeces are mill-processed to offer even more options for crafters and fiber artists.

Every evening after work, you’ll find the Chadwick family at the barn tending to the sheep or inside their farmhouse making products for the community. On Saturdays, they’re at local farmers’ markets sharing their goods, and on Sundays, you’ll find them at church, gathered around a family lunch table, or enjoying a well-earned Sabbath rest.

Sharing the farm with our community is one of our greatest joys. Above all, we pray that our growing farm points others to the true Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and brings the pastoral imagery of Scripture to life. Chadwick Sheep Company exists solely by God’s blessing, and we hope His hand is evident in all we do.

While our family, our marketing, and even some of our products may look a bit different moving forward, we are committed to serving you with the same heart and purpose for many years to come.
